Netbooks are everywhere these days.  It seems that everybody either has one or wishes to have one.  Although netbooks don’t quite have the processing power and capabilities of larger laptops, the latest batch of netbooks are powerful enough to use for e-mail, web surfing, blogging, chatting, instant messaging, social networking, streaming audio/video, and even playing some online games.  Furthermore, these netbooks are cheaper, lighter, and more compact, thus making them perfect companions for traveling.  Moreover, their batteries last a long time, so you could stay connected longer with the built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth.

Still can’t tell the difference between a netbook and a laptop?  Well, if it has an Intel® Atom™ processor, then it is a netbook, since most netbooks have this relatively slower processor for basic tasks.  Another thing to check is that a netbook won’t have any optical disk drives for CDs or DVDs.  Instead of hard disk drives, some netbooks may incorporate solid state flash drives, which have lower capacity but have no moving parts — definitely a plus for speed and battery life.  Finally, most netbooks can run on either Windows or Linux (Ubuntu) platform.
